    About Dr. Alexander

    Dr. Lou Ann Alexander joined Silicon Valley Eyecare after receiving her Doctorate degree in Optometry from UC Berkeley School of Optometry in 1993. Her undergraduate degree in Biology is from the University of Dallas where she graduated with honors and was elected to Phi Betta Kappa. She practices general optometry, contact lenses, and continues our office’s 65-year tradition of providing low vision care. She sees patients of all ages and loves providing eyecare for children. She is certified in Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) for myopia control and the treatment of glaucoma and other medical eye diseases.

    Awards & Recognitions

    Dr. Alexander was awarded Fellowship status in the prestigious American Academy of Optometry in 2002, signifying the highest standards of professional competence. She is a current member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the California Optometric Association (COA), and is a member of the low vision and sports vision sections.

    Activities & Involvement

    Dr. Alexander is very involved in the community. She is an active Rotarian and served as the first woman president for the Rotary Club of Santa Clara and the Santa Clara Rotary Foundation. She volunteers for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Cystic Fibrosis Research, Inc., doing fundraising and promoting awareness. She also currently serves on the board for National Charity League. Dr. Alexander enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, their two children, and their dog and cat.
