About Dr. Alina Wheeler, OD

Dr. Alina Wheeler has lived and practiced all over the world after growing up in, and eventually joining, the Army.  She received her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences from Colorado State University before moving to Boston, Massachusetts to obtain her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in 2015. After graduation, Dr. Wheeler was an Active Duty Captain and Optometrist in the United States Army for 4 years, taking care of soldiers and their families in Texas, Korea, and Italy. After exiting the military, she continued to provide optometric care at a private practice in Columbus, Georgia. In the summer of 2023, Dr. Wheeler and her family moved to Mountain View and she is excited to join the Silicon Valley Eyecare team.

Awards and Recognition

Dr. Alina Wheeler is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the California Optometric Association (COA), and the Santa Clara County Optometric Society (SCCOS). Dr. Wheeler is a glaucoma certified optometrist and is trained in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of ocular diseases. She is certified in MiSight 1-day contact lenses for myopia control, Euclid CRT, and Paragon CRT orthokeratology systems.

In optometry school, Dr. Wheeler was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Fraternity, and showed leadership each year as an elected student representative. She was awarded the Health Professions Scholarship Program by the Army and commissioned into the military as a Captain. She has treated patients in six countries around the world, and loves continuing a diverse patient base in the Bay Area.

Activities and Involvement

Dr. Wheeler loves to stay active by hiking, biking, running, playing tennis, or chasing around her young daughter and son. It is not uncommon to find her at a vineyard or happy hour, and if time permits- traveling California!
