75+ Years of Optometry Experience in the Bay Area

Silicon Valley Eyecare evolved from a practice established by Dr. Edwin Mehr, O.D in the late 1940s.  After serving in World War II, Dr. Mehr started his optometric practice in Santa Clara.  He was a pioneer in optometric education and founded the practice on helping partially-sighted individuals.  He lectured extensively in Australia, Europe, and the United States.

Dr. Mehr merged with another Santa Clara optometrist in the early 1960s, Dr. Irving Weisman, and together, they moved their practice to Scott Boulevard. Dr. Wayne Zimmerman, Dr. Deborah McBride and Dr. Jeffery Calmere continued the practice and each retired after having long careers.  The tradition of excellence continues with the current partners, Dr. Lou Ann Alexander who joined in 1993, and Dr. Raymond Chin in 2001.  We have continued to grow with the addition of Dr. Michael Chen, Dr. Jacquelyn Lim, Dr. Azinda Morrow, Dr. Alina Wheeler, and Dr. Gurkarn Ghag.

Today Silicon Valley Eyecare is one of the most highly rated and largest private optometry practices in the Bay Area. Our doctors continue to provide innovative, quality, comprehensive eyecare to patients of all ages.
